12 Feb Cap Classique Sparkles on this Year’s Wine Calendar
Harvesting the 2019 vintage has only just began, but Amorim is already looking forward to its favourite event in the South African wine industry. One of the highlights on the annual South African wine calendar, the announcement of the winners of the Amorim Cap Classique Challenge, will be held on Thursday 12 September this year. The awards ceremony will be followed by a public tasting of the winning wines, the dates and venues of which are still to be confirmed.
Producers of Cap Classique wines will be notified personally once entries for this year’s competition open, with the closing date for entries being 19 July and late entries 31 July. Judging takes place on 20 and 21 August
This will be the 18th consecutive year the Amorim Cap Classique Challenge is being held and since its inception the competition has gained a reputation as the leading competition for South Africa’s category of bottle-fermented sparkling wines.
Judging is in the following categories: Blanc de Blancs, Rosé, Blended Brut, Demi Sec and a Museum Class for wines including and before the 2011 vintage.
Cap Classique is one of the most dynamic wine categories in South Africa and its quality has contributed to the reputation for distinct wines the country has achieved throughout the world. Being a premium product displaying superb quality from the vineyard to the bottle, Amorim is proudly associated with Cap Classique and the South African Cap Classique Association as we share the same values of excellence and premier quality.
In the meantime we encourage consumers to enjoy the rest of summer with their favourite Cap Classique wines. It’s our favourite thing to do.
